Sharing Our Love for Sport in the Hills of VMT
On our second full day in the city of Lima, we got to build on the hard work we did yesterday in both VMT and Manchay. It was a joy to help our partners at Communities for Life apply the finishing touches on their renovated school building and brand new community centre with our ever-improving painting skills! We also spent time with many of the youth involved in our VMT partnership soccer program. No language barrier could ever come in the way of sharing our love for the beautiful game.
Final Match vs Top Peruvian Professional Side
In the afternoon, we got to play against one of the biggest fútbol clubs in the country – Alianza Lima – for our fourth game in nine days. Alianza is perhaps best compared in soccer terms to an English club like Manchester United or Liverpool due in equal parts to its rich history and its on-field exploits. The Spartans thoroughly enjoyed playing against them in Lima’s Lurin district even though they went on to lose the game by a score line of 3-1.
For our dinner/post-game meal, we headed to the Larcomar shopping centre in Miraflores and spent some quality time in community before wrapping up our evening.
