Impact in Lima

Lima, Peru | Day 8 | February 23, 2024

Spartans Creating Lasting Impact in Lima

After settling into Lima last night, we spent our morning working on some new community building projects. In the district known as VMT (Villa María del Triunfo), a group of us dug holes to facilitate the building of a permanent shelter within the next couple of weeks in partnership with Camino de Vida.

In the nearby community of Manchay, meanwhile, another group of us helped paint brand new classrooms at a school alongside our partners, Communities for Life. We did the same thing shortly thereafter at a house also connected to our local partnership. Many of the kids involved in the Manchay soccer program attend the school that the Spartans helped beautify.

In leading up to tomorrow’s big match against one of Peru’s top professional women’s teams — Allianza Lima, Coach Graham and Coach Rob led a high performance session later in the day for the club’s youth players. A few Spartans were present to help lead and encourage the talented footballers taking part in the session. We could not be more excited for the relationships that will be built – and quality fútbol that will be played – during this final weekend of our trip!
