Day 7 in Peru

May 4, 2022

Assembling wheelchairs & bittersweet goodbyes to old & new friends

Our last full day in Peru was special yet bittersweet. We spent the morning assembling wheelchairs for the community of VMT. After assembling & serving with our partners — Camino de Vida, we were able to meet some of the recipients of the new wheelchairs. It was impactful to hear their stories & a couple of our team members were able to share some words of encouragement.

As the morning wrapped up, we made our way to Manchay — spending time with our partners & joining in celebration to honour the women who have completed the Communities for Life Baking Course. After many wholesome days of building gardens & running soccer programs, it was special to sit down & converse with our friends in Manchay. These times always bring about great stories and allow us to reflect on what an impactful trip it has been so far.

TeamUp first started partnering in Manchay almost six years ago — it has been incredible to witness the growth & impact of the soccer programs and the community as a whole.

We are sad to say goodbye to our friends, but the impact never stops. We look forward to many years of partnership together — bringing hope, belonging, purpose & opportunity to kids and communities through sport.

Adiós amigos — until next time.
