Day 6 in Peru

Celebrating ‘Club de Niños Mamás’ in VMT

Balloons, flowers, and brunch for some pretty amazing people. It was a wonderful day assisting with our partners Camino de Vida as we celebrated and honoured the mothers of the “Children’s Mom’s Club” in VMT. Our volunteers helped prepare lunch and gift the moms with beautiful flowers & handmade cards — expressing thanks for their work in the community & Mother’s Day in Peru.

It was a heart-touching, impactful time as the morning included a special guest. A woman who helped lead & start the Mom’s Club, surprised the other moms after two years of not seeing each other. Because of personal reasons & the start of the pandemic, she had to go live with her family a few hours away. Needless to say her presence was dearly missed and her return brought great hope and joy.

Building gardens and meeting new friends

While some of us served in VMT, the rest of our team spent the day in Manchay — building more gardens for families who have graduated from the agricultural program — in partnership with Communities for Life.

Shovelling dirt and laying compost may not sound all too exciting, but it is the people we meet and the stories we are privileged to hear that seem to leave a lasting impact on our own hearts.
