Impact in Tarapoto
Tarapoto, Peru | Day 5 | February 20, 2024
Morning Work Projects & Afternoon Coaching Clinics
Our first full day in Tarapoto was both packed and incredibly life-giving. We split ourselves into three groups for our morning projects, the first of which involved laying the groundwork for a brand-new roof and washrooms to be installed at a local community centre. Our second group painted new lines on a nearby sports court and sanded a local playground, while our third and final group got to run a soccer clinic.
The players had been scheduled to play a friendly match against a local club in the afternoon, but the game was postponed until Thursday. Naturally, they took full advantage of the opportunity to relax and explore Tarapoto.
They did reconvene at 4:30pm for a quick gym session while Spartans Head Coach Graham Roxburgh and Assistant Coach Rob Giesbrecht were out running a coaching clinic. Everybody gathered again a few hours later to top off Day 5 in Peru with a lovely rooftop dinner hosted by some of our generous partners/hosts in Tarapoto!
