Purpose & Opportunity.
Albania has a total population of 2.8 million. Out of this number, around one third are under the age of 19. In 2012, approximately 17.4 percent of Albanian children lived in absolute poverty while 1.8 percent lived with families who had no income.
In Albania, TeamUp provides children with opportunities to engage in sports programs including volleyball, basketball, and soccer. At the moment more than 60 children participate in these sports as a natural bridge into caring for kids in less privileged situations.
TeamUp provides training for local coordinators, sport equipment and resources and funding to give kids in Sauk, Albania the opportunity to engage in physical sporting activities and fun games. These training sessions are held virtually throughout the year, as well as in person when TeamUp volunteers travel to Albania.
Additionally, Teamup provides sports equipment, or funding to help resource the local leaders with the proper sports equipment in order to provide ongoing opportunities for kids to participate in sporting activities and fun games.
Together We Assist
Sport programs.
TeamUp runs sports programs for children and youth that are carried out by its agent Stand As One Ministry with ongoing community development projects, and to play a specific role in providing opportunities for kids to belong and participate in physical activities coinciding with educational, nutrition and community programs.
Community support.
TeamUp trains local leaders to provide a sport component to these local outreach and development programs. This occurs through regular sport activities partnered with feeding programs. TeamUp provides sporting resources, equipment and often sports clothing in order to adequately resource our local partners so children have opportunities to engage in sporting and physical activities.
Training leaders.
TeamUp assists with leadership and facilitator training by regular communication and training meetings with leaders from the various local communities we are working with. TeamUp creates training content and trains volunteer coaches through webinars. Where possible, TeamUp staff visits the sports programs on an annual basis bringing volunteers to run sports clinics, do community work projects, and train leaders in person.
